Browns Sign Trent Richardson

Trent Richardson has been in Cleveland for roughly two weeks, mainly situating his family with getting a new house. But other than that there hasn’t seemed to be much progress on the contract for Trent. The issue has been ‘offset language’ in his contract. This language prevents the Browns from having to pay the full amount of money if Richardson signs with another team.
Either way I do not see it as an issue with this world class performer, Trent Richardson. But if we look at around the NFL, no other top 10 pick (besides Stephen Gilmore #10) has offset language in there contracts. So they are guaranteed a certain amount of money no matter what.
Today we have sources close to the situation saying that the Browns are very close to signing Trent Richardson. We will have an update as they come..
UPDATE 9:55 PM- DEAL IS DONE
“The contract pays Richardson a signing bonus of $13.341 million, along with base salaries of $390,000 in 2012, $1.321 million in 2013, $2.252 million in 2014, and $3.184 million in 2015.
Like all first-round picks, the team holds an option for the fifth-year. The Browns will be able to retain Richardson’s rights for 2016 by offering the average of the ten highest paid running backs in 2015.”
